Rainfall

creation-of-the-world-ii-1906.jpg!Large.

Listen to the sound
The rains have come
To swallow this world
Into a foggy abyss

And give birth anew
Like a bright nebula
Distant from this earth
Rain is filled and full
A galaxy waiting to burst

It is the sound of beginning
Listen to the downpour
And remember the old saying
“Rivers carve through mountains
Storms unsettle calm seas

Water is a force
Both brutal and gentle”

How strange it is to the touch
Rain is sharp
Like cold steel
Cutting through human skin
Is this the beginning
Of a sudden rebirth
That which was foretold
In the old sagas?

But no flood comes
No cleansing, no baptism
This rain is simply rain

Water pulled to the ground by force
It is just another deluge
In this monsoon season
Without meaning, without depth

Yet you’ve grown tired
Of this
simplicity
This mundanity
In this quiet space
Your bleak isolation

So you look at the sky
And ask, “Until when?”
